BLIND LEADING THE BUND.
Scene —Westminster Bridge, London. Time, 1 a.m. Dramatis Personae —Two gentlemen in evening dress having a fierce argument over a certain light in the sky. Ist Gent.—My good shir, I tell you tha’sh she moon. 2nd Gent.—Rot’sh ! Iz se shun. Ist Gent. —I tell you iz se moon. 2nd Gent. —Sun. Ist Gent. —Moon. 2nd Gent.—Sun. Etc., ad lib. When they were on the eve of blows a third gentleman in evening dress hove in sight. The first gentleman stopped him, and appealed to him to arbitrate. Ist Gent.—’S’cusc me, shir. My friends’h and I are having a little frenn’ly argument. . . . D’you see tha’sh thing ? My friend shoz iz se sun, and I shay it’s ze moon. Woojju mind telling us wich it is ? 3rd Gent, (after regarding the disputed object critically for some three minutes)—’S’xcuse me, but (hie’ I’m a shtranger here.—Nancy Price, in the Christmas "Pelican.”
