The No 2 is doing well with steady payable returns, lint the average of the two dredges is considerably under that obtained for some time past The Lxc dsior dredge is working steadily and will soon prove whether the Lowburn Creek is as rich as many of tho old hands believe -the wash so far is poor, barely covering expenses, but it is expected to improve as they work ahead. At the annual meeting of the Rising Sun on Saturday night there was a good attendance of shareholders, but owing to an attack of influenza the chairman (Mr J. L Scott) was unable to attend, The retiring directors Mosssrs Scott and Gang were re-elected and the dredgemaster Mr G. McDonald and crew were passed a hearty vote of thanks for their services, the master being granted a well earned bonus of £2-1.

FOOTBALL. The County selectors arc experiencing much difficulty in getting the required number to constitute a team for ‘ Country Week,’ which commences on Wednesday in Dunedin. At the time of going to press wo are unable to obtain the names of the players who are making the trip, and Vincent has evidently fallen on evil days.
