CLYDE NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) At the South Island Rille Association’s meeting, held recently at Redcliffe, Mr Clyde Welsford, of this town, won the Otago Match putting on G8 out of a possible 70. Mr J. «J. Ramsay, who has been a resident here for the last eighteen months, left for the North Island on Friday last having secured an appoint* ment in the Public Works Department. As a public man Mr Ramsay is well known all over Otago, having taken a prominent part in agitating for the cutting up of large estates. On Saturday morning Mrs Ramsay was found dead in bed about 9 30 a.m., it is supposed from heart disease.
There is at present current a rumor that a local tradesman is going to con* test the new Tuapeka seat, in tha Opposition interest at the forthcoming general election.
The matron of the Cromwell Hospital desires to acknowledge with thanks, the receipt of a box of fruit from the Rev. A. D. Mitchell and congregation of the Pembroke Anglican Church in connection vrilh the HWYMt Thanksgiving Service,
