RIFLE SHOOTING.

The third competition for Speight's Clock closed on and " shootists " have nob had the best of weather throughout the competition, but the scores are good considering the conditions. The last day of the shoot brought forth four possibles, all by men in double figure handicaps. Following are the individual scores: —

Range Prize—Micrometer, presented by Lieut. Toms tor best score at (500 yards in the third competition, Priv. Renshaw 30.

The return match between the Cromwell Reserve Oorp and the Bannockburn Kill© Club will be fired on the local Range on Wednesday afternoon. The Cromwell boys have improved considerably since the last match with Bannockburn, and although not expecting a victory, a much closer finish than the last should result.

The annual firing for the Goldfields' Challenge Shield, which takes place this year at Arrowtown, will be fired on Tuesday, 17th March. The Cromwell team, at present, gives promise of being a very good one, and we expect to see them make a bold bid for the Shield

A range prize to the value of £1 has been presented by Osipt. Mackenzie for the best score at 600 yards in the fourth competition. The following team has been selected to represent Cromwell Volunteers in the match against Bannockburn on Wednesday : —Lieuts. Jolly and Toms, 001-Sergt. Wrightson, Sergts. Varcoe and Oahill, Corps.
