LAWN TENNIS.

CROMWELL V. CLYDE

A team representing the Cromwell Club played a match with Clyde on the hitter's court on Saturday. The afternoon was ideal for tennis, and an interesting and enjoyable contest saw Cromwell Club add another win to its long list of victories by 21 games. All arrangements were carried out in good style, and first-class refreshments were provided by the members of the Clyde Club, which contributed a good deal to the afternoon's enjoyment. Appended are the scores : Genis' Singles.

Mr Blackmore, Government and Mr Courtier, Insect Pest Inepector, paid a visit to this district last week and visited several orchards. They notified their intention of returning early in April, when Mr hlackmore intends to deliver a lecture, while Mr Courtier will inspect the orchards in thit locality, and the Act i» regard to peste will henceforth be enforced. The next visit of these gentlemen will be awaited with interest. Methodist church aervices for Sunday next will be conducted as follows:—Cromwell 11 a.m., and 7 p.m., Gorge 3p.m., Rev.
