PROVED IT.
“Snagger is a pretty shrewd fellow,” observed Mr. Tomlin to his friend ; “he’s got a good brain, and he knows how to use it. I should call him a very quick thinker indeed.”
‘‘He’s a good business man," agreed the other ; "too sharp for me, anyway. He certainly never seems to forget anything !’’ "I should think not." declared Tomlin. "Why, only the other day he was calling on old Tugger’s daughter, and when the old man came down stairs he calculated the distance from his chair to the door, and from the chair to the window, and found the latter the shorter. He remembered the bulldog sitting in the front yard ; did not forget to pick up his hat as he lept over the window casement ; carefully minded the spiked railings just below, and remembered to call ‘Good-night’ to Clara Tugger as he disappeared into the darkness. Oh yes ; he’s a quick thinker, and no mistake !’’
