CRIFFEL LEAD WATER RACE.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Re Mount Pisa Station objecting to race unless fenced. Ido not believe in one industry trying unnecessarily to crush out another, as a race six feet wide the sheep will not get drowned in it, for they will not try to get across. There used to be a race at Tinkers six feet wide (the old Excel), and in fact there is some there now nearly that width, if not quite that. There is also the Government water race from the Manuherikia to Naseby. 1 never heard of any sheep being drowned in any of them. —I am, etc. FA IRP LAY.
