For Bronchial Coughs and Colds, Woods' Great Peppermint Cure, 1/6 & 2/6 per Bottle.

The autumn railing of sheep is now in full swing on the Otago railways, and the figures to hand show not only a remarkable tendency on the part of Otago stock to drift towards Canterbury (says the Dunedin correspondent of the Christchurch Press), but they show also that our exports are not altogether ruled by port facilities. During the month of March 23 sheep trains were run from Southland to Canterbury, while 18 ran from Otago. The Southland trains represented 393 waggons, and carried 23,000 sheep, while the Otago traffic showed a total of 15,000 sheep, and absorbed 242 waggons. Most of the stock was untrucked at Pleasant Point, St. Andrews, and Studholme Junction. The heaviest day's work was on March 26th, when four trains, representing 81 waggons left various stations in Southland and Otago, and these were at Omarau on the following morning, without interfering with the ordinary traffic. As the full number of sheep waggons on the Otago-Southland section is only 164, it may readily be imagined that some skill is necessary to get the empty rolling stock back from Canterbury in good time after each despatch. The Canterbury railways, for their part, show a more imposing sheep traffic. Last Tuesday 280 waggons were °n th« Canterbw"V lines, and only 256 vvoro available. Thu Aadington market alone requires 300 deckers each week. The explanation of this rather extraordinary drift of local sheep to Canterbury is that the climatic conditions there make it easier to raise sheep to a prime quality, and sellers for export purposes can generally command -|d to ■f d per lb move than would be the case here. This is one of the causes which help to swell the export returns of such ports as Lyttelton and Timara.
