Bannockburn Notes.

(From Our Own Correspondent,) On Wednesday night a welcome home in the form of a concert and dance was given in the Hall to Ttoopers J. Orombia of the Eighth Contingent and Troopers C. Manson and A. Woodhousa of the Ninth. There was a vary large audience, The chairman, Mr J. Horn, opened the proceedings with a short speech, intro* discing the returned troopers, after which the following programme was gone through: Overture, Miss Graham (piano), Miss S. E. Hancock and Mr Partridge (violins), after which these cheers were called for the troopers. Song, Mr Newick ; song, Mr Barrowclough ; speech, Mr Barrowclough; song, iMiss S. Hancock, * Katie of Killaruey,’ and for an encore song ‘ln Happy Moments’; Me Barclay, Irish Jig ; speech by |Oapd. Crabbo ; song, Miss Alexander ; song, Miss Allan ; speech, Air C. Ray ; song, Mr F. Herd, 4 I’ll be your Sweetheart,’ and for an encoralaaag 4 The Last Roll Call ’ in good style f speech, Mr Hosking ; song, Miss P. Hancock, • Nancy Lee,’ and for an encore the song * Motherland’ very nicely ; after which speeches were made by the returned troopers. Duet, Misses Alexander and M'Qregor, 4 Up in the Morning ; selection by the Misses Hancock (violin) and Miss Gras ham brought the concert part of the programme to a .close. Refreshments were thenjkanded round, which, needless to say, were of the best and in abundance, and after ,all ware served, all joined together m singing 4 God Sava the King.’ Miss Graham and Mrs J. Ray acted as accompanists during the evening. The hall was then Jgleared for dancing, at which about 40 couples kept the ball rolling merrily till about 4 in the morning, Vlr Ritchie jaoted as M.G., and Miss Graham (piano), Miss Hancock and Mr Partridge (violins) supplied the music. Miss M. Anderson has bean appointed postmistress in place of Mias Parsons, who has left the district.
