CROMWELL BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The ordinary meeting of the Cromwell Borough Council Vas held in the Council Chambers on Thursday, 29th August 1895. Present: The Mayor, Councillors Rooney, Richards, and Thomas. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Outward correspondence was read and approved. Inward: Voucher from Colonial Treasurer re Goldfields revenue for July £2 10. Letter from Commissioner of Tax Department re valuation of Borough.— Already replied to. Correspondence re amount of Borough for the reconstruction of the Cromwell Bridge.—Ordered to be received. Copy of Local Government Bill now issued.—Ordered to be brought up at the next meeting after being carefully read by the councillors. Application from Mr W. Eichards to occupy a corner piece of block 6, adjoining Mr Rankin’s section. Resolved.—-That Mr W. Richards be allowed to occupy section 16 block 6 at a rental of 10s per annum. The following accounts were passed for payment:—J. Kerin, kerosene, etc. £1 2s 4d; Dayman, wages, £ls, Town Clerk, salary, £6 ss. The clerk was instructed to call for tenders to be sent in before the next meeting for the use of the Corporation’s share (1-12) of Westmorland Race, tenderers to take the responsibility of repairs and maintenance. A vote of thanks to the chair concluded the proceedings.
