THE V.C.H. SOCIETY.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir. —l sea that the Dunstan Times is hading fault with the doings, or is it misdoings, of the committee in Cromwell that ran the last flower show here. With your remarks on the question I am in total agreement, and I think, as you do, that this way of treating honorary servants of thepublic, for that is what the position of president, secretary, or member of committee of a society like the V.O.H.S, amounts to, in such a manner is not calculated to promote the interests of the next Cromwell show. What I want to know is, why don’t we own a show of our own at this end of the district? I am sure it would be well supported as I have heard people say that they cannot travel themselves or send the exhibits to Clyde*and Alexandra, and they also object to having only one show in three years at this end of the county. I am quite sure, and I have heard members of the late committee say so too, that fully 90 members could\ be got for an Upper Clutha Society, and their subscriptions together with the hen coops, etc., would make a good start. Hoping some abler pen will take up the question, I am etci, — Fruitgrower. Cromwell, August Slat 1895.
