HOUSEHOLDERS’ MEETINGS.
LOWBURN. A meeting of householders was held on April 22nd. The secretary read the report and balance-sheet which was adopted as read. Everything connected with the school is in a satisfactory state, A vote of thanks was passed to the Lowburu Sporting Club for their kind donation (£5 Is 8d) towards the expenses of school prizes. The receipts of the year were £32 2s 2d, aud the expenditure £29 IDs 4d, leaving a balance of £2 I Is 10. The new committee elected are:—H. Partridge, J. Willson, M. Heaney, T. Wood, W. Kitto, W. Bateman, and J. Swann. At the first meeting of the new committee, T. Wood was elected chairman, and J. Swann secretary for the ensuing year. BENDIGO. The annual meeting of householders of the Bendigo school district was held on Monday April 22nd at 7 p.m. The following report was read and adopted:— The outgoing committee hold 12 ordinary and special meetings, of which Mr G. F. Hosking attended 2, James Pascoc 10, A. Faithful 11, J. May 7, and W, Newman 12. On 28th November the school was examined by W. Fitzgerald Esq. Ten children were presented for examination, with the result that they all passed without any exceptions, thereby making the best record ever attained at this school by any teacher, aud the district has to be congratulated on having such an excellent teacher as Miss Birch. On the 15th December, 1894, the committee, in conjunction with the larras school committee, held a picnic at the latter’s place, the two committees agreeing in trying to make it an annual affair. A sum of £2 13s 6d was collected in aid of the picnic and prizes. A very handsome and useful lot of books was procured from Dunedin, and presented to the children by the chairman, Mr Pascoc. Your committee’s finances are good. It came into office with a credit balance of £7 0s 2d, of which there was an outstanding account of £4 7s, (which only left a credit balance of £2 13s 2d. Since, received from Education Board £B, 5s for use of school, £2 13s 6d by local effort, making a total of £l7 18s Bd. It has spent £4 7s in coal for warming the school, £1 5s in cartage of tank, £2 13s 6d for prizes, £2 18s for furniture aud cleaning school, exchange on cheques Is 3d, leaving a balance of £6 17s lid in the bank to its credit. The fence round the school is in a very bad state, and will require the first attention of the new committee. The following gentlemen were elected for the ensuing year:—Messrs J. Pascoe, A. Faithful, J. May, R. Poison, and W. Newman. At the first meeting, held on Friday 26th, Mr J, P.iscoe was elected chairman, and W. Newman secretary.
