A West Coast contemporary states that Mr Mueller, Chief Surveyor of Westland, who has just returned from a trip to Jackson’s Bay, reports that a small rush has broken out at Barn Bay and that some dozen settlers have left for there. Barn Bay is some 20 miles south of Jackson’s Bay. He also states that two small companies are mining at the Haast with satisfactory results. The Faust Family have already acquired quite a popular reputation throughout Otago and Southland, and the Press criticisms whereever this Company has appeared have universally been highly favorable. The Family came to this Colony with the Chiarini Circus on its last visit, and it is not too much to say their performances were a great attraction and source of profit to the hippodrome. Mr Faust concluded his engagement with Chiarini, and started business on his account, with the result that lie has since had a continued run of success. The Family consists of ten members, all of whom are exceptionally clever, from the father to the five-year-old “ midget. ” They have had a most prosperous season in the southern goldfields centres, and will appear in Cromwell on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, when no doubt the merits of the entertainment will attract Jill bowse?,
