MR PYKE'S PROPOSED LECTURE.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I have to apologise to the Cromwell people for having been too ill to keep my appointment as to giving a lecture on the special settlement association regulations. I assure you I could not help it. The people were disappointed no doubt, and so was I. They expected to meet an old friend—l anticipated meeting a hundred old friends, therefore my disappointment was a hundredfold greater than that of any one of the public ; but I will ask the people to compensate me on a future occasion,— I am, etc., Vincent Pyke. March 14th, 1885.
