Hanlan commenced with 35, and Laycbek a nuhute. Hanhm at once took the lead, and was a length or more ahead at Simmond'* Yard, and two lengths ahead at the mile-post. At this point Laycock made a splendid spuri, •arid Hanlan's lead Waß for a time materially decreased ; but the latter again rapidly drew ahead, and was four lengths tin advance of •Laycock'a't Barnes Bridge. HeWntirtued to increase his lead, and reached" the wjnningpost four lehgthsahea'd, having'lead'frorh start to finish, and completing the distance in 25 min. 41sec,
