CROMWELL CEMETERY TRUST.
A meeting of the Cromwell Cemetery Trustees appointed by Gazette notice dated fith December, 1880, was held in the Town •Hall on Friday evening. The members 'present were Messrs C. Colclough, S. N. Brown, D. MacKellar, C. E. Gudgeon, and D, A. Jolly. Mr Colclough stated that ho had thought it. right to convene the Committee by advertisement, as certain important business had to be considered. Air MacKellar was voted to the chair.
Discussion ensued as to powers of the Committee under the Cemeteries Management Act, and with regard to getting possession of books &c., from the old trustees. Also with regard Ip iponeys in Bank in name of late trustees. . Before acting in this matter it was decided to , proceed with the appointment of permanent . /officers. On motion of Mr Gudgeon, seconded by rMr Colclough, Mr MacKellar was appointed permanent chairman of Trustees.
For the combined offices of secretary and treasurer, Mr S. N. Brown was appointed. Proposed by Mr Jolly, seconded by Mr Colclough—That the Chairman and Mr Gudgeon be a sub-Committee to see members of late Trust re delivery of books, moneys, &c.—Carried.
'The Secretary was instructed to get copies ■of Acts relating to Cemeteries, Burials, &c., and likewise copies of by-laws of various ■cemetery trusts in Otago—Dunedin, Oamaru, Lawrence, Queenstown, and other places. The meeting then adjourned till the evening of Friday; 25th instant.
