MR CHAPPLE AND THE DUNSTAN TIMES.
To the Editor of the Cromwell Argus.
Sir, —In last issue of the Dunstan Times is again another letter from the pen of Mr Rivers, in which my name appears ; and at the foot of this letter an intimation from the Editor that "this correspondence must close." For Mr Editor's information allow to say that he might have saved himself the trouble in so far as I am concerned, for I should not have troubled him or his readers on the subject, considering it so far beneath my notice, and, in auctioneers' parlance, dismiss this part of the subject by saying "itoo well known to need comment." But in the issue of the Dunstan Times dated 10th inst.; the Editor boasts rather loudly of his 'high principles of journalism, and in the same issue I think is the silliest paragraph that ever emanated from the pen of an editor; and although he so loudly boasts, I defy anyone who has read this correspondence to aay it is not one-sided affair from beginning to end—that is, unless the individual's capacity is on a par with that of the Editor. I am sorry to trouble you or your readers, but consider it absolutely necessary after being so ruthlessly debarred from the Dunstan Times, and if the true principles of journalism are anything like those enunciated by the Dunstan Times, I thank my stars that 1 have nothing to do with the Fourth Estate, I am, &c, John Cole Chappie. Alexandra, November 25.
