Adjourned for 14 days,—expenses to abide result of action. ■. ■ - t.'ii Goodger iv Starkey.—Claim for £6 Os 6d, saddlery work and goods.. Defendant did not dispute the items, but pleaded that only portion of the debt (£3 ss) was due to Mr Goodger, and this amoudt rhad been paid into Court. The other portion of the claim (£2 15s 6d) was contracted with' Mr Vause, the advertised proprietor of the saddlery business. He produced copy of the local paper, wherein the saddlery business was advertised as! belonging to G. H. Vause, although his bill had been rendered as ''debtor to G. W. Goodger." The Magistrate deprecated the syßtem or style under .which Mr Goodger's business was conducted, and gave judgment for £6 8s 6d. • no ,h Monday, February 14. (Before D. A. Jolly , '-Esq., Mayor, and James 'HazleU f Esq. } J.P.) John Moroney, charged with being drunk and disorderly, was fined 40s, with the alternative of 48 hours' imprisonment; and for making use of obscene language a penalty of 20s, or ■24 hours, was imposed. > The same individual was charged with assaulting his wife. The. charge was fully proved, and accused bound, over to keep the peace,— himself in £2O, and two sureties of £ 1.0 each.
