Matthew M'Neil was fined 20s, with the option of 24 hours imprisonment, for being drunk and disorderly ; and a similar penalty for making use of obscene language in a public place,. Champion. —Breach of Licensing A.ct, in keeping open his premises at Bannockburn after 10 p.m.—Pined 20s and costs'. Police v. James Lawrence and Chas. Peake r Quartzville, and John Richards, Bannoekbum, —Charge of neglecting to keep a light over their respective premises.—Fined each Is and 6s Gel costs. Police v. Chas. Peake.—-Refusing admittance to police. —Case dismissed. civil casks. •"" J. Campbell v. W. Cameron.—Claim for £3. This case was one of complicated accounts, and 'after a patient research into the items, the Magistrate gave judgment for £l6 Bs, with'£3 '3s costs. John Marsh v. C. J. Mane. —Claim for £l7, value of a horse illegally detained by defendant and belonging to plaintiff. Mr Wilson for plaintiff. The evidence went to show that plaintiff had purchased the horse value of which was claimed from a man who alleged he bought .the animal from Marie, who now detained it oh the plea that he had only parted with the horse conditionally. After going fully into the case, the Bench gave judgment for £ls, value of horse, with costs, I9s ; in the event of defendant handing over the animal to plaintiff within seven days the amount to be reduced to Is.
