Tuesday, 7.43 p.m. Sir George Grey, Sir John Richardson, and other Parliamentary magnates visited Hallenstein's clothing factory, where upwards of 200 persons are employed. The visitors were conducted through the establishment by Mr Hallenstein, and expressed their pleasure and astonishment at the cvidenco of great enterprise exhibited in the factory.
Mr Stout is to address his constituents on Friday, and it is said will state the policy of the Opposition for the coming struggle. A heavy cliim for compensation under the provisions, of the Immigration and Public Works Act 1874, has been made by David Proudfoot against the General Government. The claim is fcr £33,250, for damage done by the Moeraki railway lino passing through a quarry, the property of plaintiff. Tho case is before the Supremo Court. A human skeleton was found on Sunday at the foot of a high eliff near Mr Cargill's property, Ocean Beach. It has apparently been there a number of jears.
LATEST AUSTRALIAN. The Otago has turned, bringing news from Melbourne to October 23. The new Ministry hm been duly sworn in. Scarlet fever is incrtasing, and the City Council is adopting stringent measures. Blondin is on his way out, and opens first in Sydney.
