M'llwain never reached his home. •His amval had been expected at the Teviot, Ind as no tidings of him were heard on Sunday or Monday, a search was made, and his body was found on Thursday, ? about half-way down the eastern side of 1 the mountain, near the fork formed by the 1e " junction of Black Jack's track with re * O'Brien's. The horses, with the packsaddles on their backs, wore discovered •n- at some distance from where the body lay, M and werjßf as might have been expected, in ihH' a most emaciated condition. The remains of of Mr M'llwain were conveyed to the ip, Teviot, where aft inquest was held on >en Saturday, and the funeral, we understand, Mr took place on Sunday. It is stated that the Mr M'llwain had often been warned of md the danger of crossing the mountain durall> ingsnow-storms, but he had become so inured bi a to the dangers of the route that he would it. undertake the journey in almost any weato ther.
