ALEXANDRA TOWN COUNCIL.
■ O The usual fortnightly meeting of the Council was held on Friday evening, the Bth inst. Present—The Mayor, and Councillors Beresford, Theyers, and Calder. a The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Outward correspondence fas read and approved. The Town Clerk laid on the table a statement ot rates collected to this date, amounting to £GG Is.
After the statement had been examined, Cr. Theyera proposed, and Cr. Berestord seconded—- " That the statement be signed, and transmitted to Government for collection of subsidy of £1 to £l."—Carried. The Town Clerk also laid on the table a statement of estimated revenue and expenditure for the year 1870-1, as prepared by the Finance Committee. It was made up as follows: Income. —Estimated rates £l2O Licenses, &c. &c. 5 Government subsidy 120 „ £245 Expenditure. —Salaries 50 Stationery, advertising, &c. ... 20 Sundries 20 Public works 155 Proposed by Cr. Beresford—“ That the statement be adopted, and published in the Gazette as required by Ordinance.”—Seconded by CT. Theyera, and carried.” Sundry accounts were passed for payment. Cr. Theyers stated that a few loads of gravel were badly wanted at the top of the street, just above the part permanently gravelled ; as also a load or two at the crossing of the water-race Mar the school fence —The Town Clerk was in•lpitcd to see this work done. Mils terminated the business of the meeting.
