'Messrs Donald Reid and Co., Ltd., Teport:—We held our weekly auction sale of grain and produce at our stores on Monday morning, when values ruled as under:— Oats.—There is good inquiry for prime lines of Cartons and sparrowbills, and. for these kinds values are somewhat firmer. 'Medium and inferior qualities have not much attention from shippers, but meet with fair local demand. We quote: Prime milling, 3s 10d to 3s lid; good to best feed, 3s 8d to 3s lOd; inferior to medium, 3s 4d to 3s 7d per bushel (sacks extra). Wheat.—Best whole fowl wheat is readily sold in small lots at 5s 6d to 5s 9d per bushel (sacks extra). All milling qualities coming forward are being taken by local millers at Government valuation. Potatoes.*—During the past week the demand has not been so keen. In consequence of some Northern buyers having filled their .present requirements sales cannot be freely made, and prices have suffered a slight decline. The demand is almost entirely for sound, well picked, clean lots, lower grades being more difficult to place at a greater reduction in value. Good seed lots have more inquiry. We quote: Best table potatoes, £5 to £5 ss; others, £4 to £4 15s; best seed Up-tb-Dates, £5 10s to £6 per ton (sacks included). Chaff.—There is good demand for prime oaten sheaf, and all consignments of this class are readily sold on arrival. Medium and inferior lots are more difficult to deal with. Straw chaff is now receiving more attention from buyers, but stocks are light. We quote: Best oaten sheaf, £5 10s to £5 15s; medium to good, £4 15s to £5 ss; light and discoloured, £4 to £4 10s; oaten .straw chaff, £3 5s to £3 10s; wheaten straw chaff, £3 5s to £3 15s per ton (bags extra,)-.
