Ou« <jf the most popular concessions ever granted by a French Minister for War is that just accorded by General Roques. It is known by the fathers in the trenches ae "Leave to see baby." The Minister ha s decreed that special leave of three days, not counting travelling, 'is to be given, if cureumstances permit, to every French soldier whose wife presents him with a baby. As soon ae the poilug were made aware of this arrangement they suggested: to theiT officers that in the event of twins their "cradle leave" (should bo doubled.
