EXPEDITION AGAINST RUMANIA. MOST DANGEROUS STAGE 'PASSED LONDON, Oct. 20. The Petrograd correspondent of the 'Daily Chronicle' says, "There is reason to believe that the German punitive expedition against Rumania has; passed the most dangerous stage." IMPATIENT FOR ASSURANCES. LONDON, Oct. 20. In the House of Commons Sir E. Carson (Unionist member for Dublin University) asked when it would be possible | to get the Government's statement regarding Rumania, in view of the prevalent anxiety. Rt. Hon. A. Bonar Law (Colonial Secretary) said it was not desirable to make a statement at present. CONFIDENCE IN BUCHAREST. LONDON, Oct. 20. Though in some quarters it ie considered that Rumania lias passed the corner, some correspondents declare that the ciisis is- not yet permanently passed, as the Germans will surely continue to send reinforcements while the weather permits. SALONIKA, October 2(1. A Serbian communique states that Geuerar Misuitch's army has advanced four miles north-east of Brod. The Gorman prisoners include members of two regiments just arrived from the Kussian front. POSITION IN CREECE. ENTENTE MINISTER AND KING. LONDON, Oct. 20. The Exchange Telegraph Agency's Athens correspondent says, "M. Yenizelos informed the Entente Ministers that he could no longer co-operate with King Oonstantine, even if the King acquiesced in the national movement. KING CONSTANTINE'S POSITION. ATHENS, October 20. Realising the Allies' intention to secure effective control of the police, King Constantine is allowing the Government to seek workable arrangements with the Allies. Half the military force concentrated at Larissa will be removed to Peloponnesus, with a great quantity of artillery and stores, thus depriving King Constantino of power to assist the Germans. .Meanwhile officers, officials and volunteers continue to go to Salonika to join the Provisional Government.
