HOCKEY.

LOCAL TEAMS. Hockey at Balclutlia this season, especially in the ladies' team, promises to be much better than it has been for many years. The school team, which has carried off the South Otago honours for the past two years, has had bad luck through so many of its players leaving, but with practice the new players should prove themselves worthy substitutes. The ladies' club has boon fortunate I his year in having so many good players, including several old Otago representative players. The large membership and the good attendance has injduced the club to hold a practice both on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The seven-a-side tournament is to bo held as usual at Dunedin on June 3, and at least three clubs are entering from this district— two A teams from th< ladies' club and one from the school.
