MENU THAT AWAITED KAISER.
In going through the papers of th« former manager of the Hotel Astoria, in Paris, the investigating magistrate has oome across a copy of the menu for the dinner to be given by tiie Kaiser at the hotel on August 10. 1914, the day in which he planned to enter Paris. It is headed by the date, August 15, 1914, and is as follow*: Pioueher de caviar d'Astrakan Bisque de homards Consomme double Colbert Truite saumonoo imperiale Filet de boeuf Renaissance Supreme de volaille Jeannetto Xeige au cliquet Caneton bigarde S.ilade japonaise Asperges d'Argenteuil Chantilly Ananas voile a I'orientale Paniers de gouiniandise Fruits de printemps Vins: Nackenheimer Reeling Chateau Beaueaillou Piper Heidsieck, gout americiin Mumrn, grandes marques. It will be remembered that the Astoria manager, a German named Geissier, was arrested as a spy in the early days of the war, was shot (by rumor), then acquitted and placed in a concentration camp. He has since b. en accused of misappropriation of funds belonging to his hotel company and it is in connection with this charge that his papers are being examined.
