IN MESOPOTAMIA.
"KUT TO BE HELD." GENERAL TOWNSIIEND'S REPORT. DELHI, February S. A communique from General Townshend states: "We are holding Kut-el-Amara as a point of strategical value. General Aylmev's operations are intended to support us here. No withdrawal is contemplated.'' The newspapers give prominence lo the communique under the heading. "Hut to be held," and state that it is clear that the British have (irmly established their positions in Mesopotamia. It is also evident that the forces are settling down to trench warfare until the weather improves.
