COUNTY BOUNDARIES.
TO BE ALTERED IN NOVEMBER,
The Clutlia County Council a meeting on Friday to .consider the proposed alteration in the boundaries of the ridings throughout the county, the idea being to give two members to the area at present covered by Oatliijs riding. The alterations were duly agreed to, and it is intended to proceed by "special order" to be confirmed at a meeting of the council on April''24, the alterations to come into force at. the elections in November. We give a general outline of the alterations as follows:
]N : ew Biding.—The new riding will be called Maclennan, and the boundaries will follow the Catlins river from its source to Catlins bridge, thence to the sea by block line running due south, the coastline to Southland county boundary and the boundary line between Southland and Clutha. This, with the exception of a small portion of Begg's run .No, 129, near the source of the Catlins river, remaining entirely in Catlins.
Catlins Riding.—This riding, while being curtailed to make the new riding, will receive a portion of the present South Molyneux riding by the watershed as far as tunnel, then by Jones' road to blockline, thence due south to False Island, being taken as the boundary instead of Hunt's road as at present. South Molyneux riding gets a small portion of Mr Telford's property near Otanomomo railway station, at present part of Richardson.
Clutha riding takes part of Pomaliaka, and will now extend on the western boundary to the Waiwera-Clydevale road.
The boundary between Clinton and Pomaliaka ridings will now be the Clin-fcon-Tapanui road instead of the railway; Clinton riding takes over the .Lochindorb runs from Richardson riding, and section 0, block VI., from Waipahi. There are no alterations in Clvdevale or Glenkenich ridings.
