WAIWERA.
A meeting of the Hall Committee took place on Monday evening last week, there being present .Messrs John Edwards, M. Dunnett, J. Wright, W. Sandford, H. Sheddan and J. Fyfe. Tenders were received for additions and improvements, as well as complete renovation throughout, and Mr J. Sarginson was the successful tenderer. The work is to be .completed by April IS, and early in May it is proposed to hold a concert in aid of the funds. Every effort is to be used to make the concert a success, and to this end a committee has been appointed. Tt is intended to get some talent from Dunedin, and altogether to present a programme that will prove attractive.
I The Hall Committee recently purchased a valuable Brinsmead piano, and when the proposed alterations and improvements are carried out the hall will then be up to date. A meeting of the Bruee-Clutha branch of the Otago Teachers' Institute met in the school, Waiwera, on Saturday, 7th inst. There was a good attendance, the following schools being represented, viz., Balclutha. Kaitangata, Stirling, Lovells Flat, Benhar and Clinton. The primary school syllabus was discussed at length, and educational matters affecting the primary school work generally was gone into. Tlie meeting proved a profitable I one, and considerable interest was evinced in the discussion.
