SOCIAL AT PUERUA.
TO MR AND MRS A. MORTON. The social to Mr and Mrs A. Morton and family at Puerua on Tuesday evening was not blessed with good weather, indeed, quite the reverse, and accordingly the attendance was small compared to what it would have been under favourable conditions. Mr das. Laiuond occupied the chair, and the evening's entertainment consisted of songs recitations, musical items and games,'winding up with a short dance-
Complimentary references were made to the guests by Messrs Lamond, P. Robertson, J. A. Somerville, }>' S Grant and A. G. MeKcnzie, and the presentation of a pair of handsome saddleback easy chairs, with silver plate suitably inscribed, was made on behalf of friends by the chairman. Mr Morton replied in feeling terms. The programme was contributed by:— Mrs Ronton, piano solo; Mr W. Morton, recitation; Mr G. Keen, songsj Mr Hughes, mandoline solo; while games filled in a portion of the time. Tho ladies provided an excellent suppor, and the daneo which followed was most enjoyable.
