A young diamond merchant, 25 years ol age, named M. Giss had hia hair dyed and a false beard made for him. Thus disguised he kept close watch on Braun's wile,, Hi* lowed her to the railway station and took his place in the compartment next to her in the "Orient express. At Vienna she met her husband. A few days later M. diss discovered that Braun was a deserter from 'he Austrian" Army and had him arrested. He has sinoe traced the receivers of cue of the stolen necklaces, which was sold for £920, and had them arrested.
