HOSPITAL LEVIES.
f _ WELLINGTON, June 26. .Representatives of local bodies -nterviewed Dr \allntine4m the question of regulating hospital levies. They «uggested greater co-ordination among local bodies which finance the Hospital WOard. It was unfair, ther contend, that new works involving heavy expenditure should be sprung oil contributing authorities in one year. The chairmen of contributing bodies should be ex officio members of the Hospital Board. Dr Valintine, in reply, said that local bodies did not sufficiently realise the scope of their work, which had extended largely. He did not think tto'i there was much chance of reducing the expenditure: he believed that it would increase. He was in sympathy with the suggestions of the deputation, and ( would lay them before the Minister.' Large calls should not be made suddenly.
