JACK JOHNSON'S INVASION.

It appears that the purchase by Jack Johnson, the negro boxer, of a bungalow in the colony of millionaires at Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, is merely the first sttp in a campaign of wealthy colored men to invade the fashionable resorts of the white race in America" Johnson is a> member of a syndicate of extremely prosperous negroes who proclaim their intention of options on desirable'property in Flor.da, California, and elsewhere with a view to making profitable sales." The threat is obvious. A negro- named Harris states that the villas and bungalows which the.syndicate expects to buy will be occupied by black tenants if they are not sold at a profit. This curious campaign illustrates a new and very disagreeable uhase of the racial problem in this country. Johnson's occupation of a bungalow at Geneva is merely a foretaste of what is to come, for it is reported! •he is one of nine joint purchasers of the property, who, in the absence of an acceptable offer by the white millionaires, will establish there next summer a negro club adjoining the private bathing beach of the wealthy white residents.
