ATTEMPT TO GAG A WOMAN.
It was reported to the -Sydney De- ! tective Office tlio other day that Hiss Mackinnon, proprietress of "Glitton' a hoarding establishment at Kirribilli Point, North Sydney, was attacked by a burglar 011 a recent morning and an attempt made to gag her in order to preevnt the alarm being given. Miss Mackinnon was awakened at about half-past three o'clock in the morning by the intruder attempting to force a gag into her mouth. She struggled, succeeded in freeing herself, and ('ailed loudly for help. The man then made his escape, leaving behind him a felt hat, a handkerchief, and some buttons shed from his clothing. The detectives who are engaged on the case discovered several clear fingerprints, which it is hoped will assist in tracing the offender. The man had evidently begun a close examination of the room before Miss Mackinnon awoke, as everything was in great disorder- Miss Mackinnon was severely bruised in her struggle with the man.
