MISSING BANK CLERK.
ARREST BY A RUSE. Just before midnight the arrest was effected by the Godalming police of Reginald Wright, the bank clerk who. it is alleged, absconded from Lloyd's Bank, Boscombe, with 219 banknotes of til* value of £ll6O and £540 in gold (stated 'The Daily Mail' of November 23). The arrest took place under dramatic circumstances on a common near Haslemere.
Late last evening Superintendent Jennings, of the Gotlalmiug police, was informed that a man answering the description of Wright was seen near Haslemere, where his sister is stated to live. The superintendent and three constables searched the neighborhood, at first without, sucess. Later the superintendent resorted to the subterfuge of going across the common aud crying "Reggie, Reggie," in a voice similar to that of a woman.
Suddenly a well-dressed man emerged from a clump of bushes. The police at once closed in, and found the man to be Wright. He was taken to Haslemere police station, where upon being searched £USo in bank-notes and £SOO in gold was found upon him. He was dressed in a new suit and new overcoat. Wright, who was removed to Godalming police station, will he handed over to the Bournemouth police this morning.
