MONKEY AS MURDERER.

Peasants living in the valley of the Nesles (France) are at present in a state of terror concerning a monlcey which escaped from a menagerie some miles away. The animal has been at liberty for several months, and everyone talks in dread of tlje animal's ferocious exploits. It is credited with the murder of two women, stealing various articles, and eating children alive. Innumerable battues have been made in the hope of capturing the monkey, but so far it has succeeded in eluding all pursuers.
