The usual monthly meeting of the abovc committee was held in the Borough Council Chambers on Wednesday evening, when there were present—Mr G. H. Rcid (chairman), and Messrs A. Mclfonald, J. Ramsay, T. Gilmour, A. McEwan, 1). Watt, R. Campbell, and D. Coghill (clerk).. Rector's Report. v The Rector (Mr W. McKlrea) Reported as follows Attendance—For week ending 11th | August, l'.Ml, the average attendance was 257 and for the three following weeks 2SI, '251, '269 respectively, in the Primary school. In the Secondary school for tne past four weeks the average has been 39, 37, 3(i. 38. Holidays.—The staff would like the holidays' to begin on Friday, 15th inst. and the school to resume work oti Tuesday the 26th. Staff—Mr Robertson quits his connection with this school on the 15th. I would suggest that Mr Robertson be relieved of his duties on Wednesday, 13th, to give him an opportunity of establishing his new home. 1 shall make provision for carrying on his work for a couple of days. I would like to express my appreciation of the very good won't Mr Robertson has done in this school. He has supported the staff in every possible way, and has been unsparing in his efforts to promote the welfare of the school in all directions. Mr Wentzall has just completed his course in woodwork. It has been both useful and enjoyable to the pupils. The Senior girls are taking a course in dress-making under Miss Burgess. Inspectors Richardson and Robertson will examine the school on Monday and Tuesday next. Correspondence. The secretary Otago Education Board wrote re application for subsidy) of £SO on donation received by the Balclutha School Committee, asking for list of original contributions to be forwarded to Education Department.—Received. From the same re the above, further asking that the date or dates on which the respective amounts making up the total of £SO were actually paid.—Received. From the same informing that i-50 had been paid into the committee's credit in the National Bank, being tefund of voluntary contributions paid to Board for subsidy. Gilbert Robertson notified the committee that he had received an appointment in the Otago Boys Iligh School, and was due to begin work on Tuesday, 115 th Sept. He wished to be relieved of his duties in the Balclutha school on Tuesday, Sept. tion accepted, and requested granted. Accounts. The following accounts were passed for pavment :-H. Burrows .£3 10/, I. Smith' £2 5/9, Timber Co. Guest 4/9, Weir and Craig 1 o/t, -H. Rvrie and Co. £1 7/S. It was decided to open a separate account for technical purposes.
