An epidemic of duels has broken out in Paris. One contested was of a particularly determined character, and the combatants, who had recently fought with pistols, used swords. They had their arms protected by gauntlets to the elbows, and directed ferocious thrusts at the body. At the third encounter one of them was disabled by a deep wound in the clwst.
