COMPLIMENTARY CONCERT

—. BY MISS BLACK l-'.'S PUPILS. St. Mark's Hall was lillcd with tin appreciative audience on Tuesday nighti when Miss Blacke's pupils tendered that lady a complimentary concert. The programme was a very good one, and .Miss Blacke and pupils alike are to be congratulated on the satisfactory manner in which the performers acquitted themselves. In a concert of this nature anything in the nature of criticism would be entirely out of place, snllicc it to say that one and all—after making due allowance for nervousness in some rases -did their part well in a most enjoyable concert. The programme was opened with a duet by Miss Blacke and Mr O'Connor, "When the wind blowcth in from the sea ;" Mis;; King followed with "Rosamond," Mr J. W. 11. Clarke, "Out on the deep;" Miss Smith "A perfect, day :" Mr O'Connor, who was in very good form, "What am I, love, without three," his encore "The sweetest flower that blooms," was equally good. A number of ladies rendered the glee, "Stars of the Summer night ;" Miss V. llutton, in lishermaid's costume, sang 'Taller lk-nun'," and for an encore "In the hush of the twilight;" Miss A f! rigor "A song of iholidav. The gem of the evening probably' was Miss K. Hall's (Milton). ! "Out on the rocks," while "Four by i the clock," was an excellent encore I number. The old favourite "Annie I Laurie," was ably given by a double j quartette, consisting Missses Reid, 'lvamage. Whiting and (Irigor, Messrs ! Clark, James. O'Connor and fi. 11. JReid. "Quand tu Chantes," a serenade by Miss tßlaeke, with violin obligate by Miss H. How, was very favorably received, and an encore "Home sweet home," followed. At this stage Miss Blacke was presented with a very handsome bouquet. Miss Reid sang I "The Promise of Life," and (encore) "Mv Rose." Miss Whiting "Tatters," and, "A bowl of roses" as an encore.
