"We have been shown a very ntat and handy contrivance that lias recently been patented by 3Jr H. H. Gilshnan, of K.akararaea, (says the Patea Tress'). It is termed in the specification "an improved method of fastening whips to handles," and (-'.insists of a small looped piece of a uminium split up the ccntr; and fitted with a thread and band for fastening to the whip handle. The whole is simplicity itself, and can 1-3 adjusted or ■ taken off practically instantaneously. j Being made of aluminium, there is ■ not t:ie weight at the end of the whip handle that would ordinarily be expected with a metal top, and in addi- ,' tion, it has the advantage of both ■ strength and durability. We felt sure • that Mr Gilshnan's clever invention j has only to l>ecome known to be in-j general use. ; Feilding fruitgrowers have formed an | association, and not the least import-! ant functiou they have undertaken is a cooperative scheme for the spraying of j trees. An expert is to be engaged to ' give bis services to the members. j
