A correspondent writes to the Tara- | liaki 'Daily News' of a case that has come under his notice which he charaeterises'as the most shocking he has been acquainted with. A recently-arrived immigrant was engaged by a fanner not very many miles from New Plymouth to do farm work. His "bed" for the night was in the corner of a stable, and his bed-covering a cover that had just. been taken oft' a horse's back. His food might easily have been mistakeu-'for pigs' food.
