AEROPLANES OF THE FUTURE.

At the French Academy of Sciences recently an interesting paper was read by M. Leisure on the aeroplanes in which our sous may hope to iiy. "The aeroplane, of the future," M. Lessart said, "will be a sort of air-torpedo which will fly between the strata of the air at a rate~of anything between 1000 and 1200 miles an hour. It will ily to London in a few minutes, and get to Peking in a few hours. The wings will be no larger than lins. In fact, the apparatus will look very much like a wliale. The passengers will travel inside, getting light through portholes of thick glass, as on board ship. An apparatus like the periscope of the submarine will help to steer the machine, allowing the driver to see the earth below him." It is amusing in connection to note that 80 years ago the French Academy of Sciences nominated a committee, one of which was Gay-Lussac, to report on the flying idea, and this committee, after due deliberation, declared that every one who believed that aviation would be possible was mad. Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy is the most successful medicine in the world for bowel complaints, both lor adults and children. Pleasant and' safe to take, prompt in its action, and effectual in results. For sale by G. W. Hutchins, chemist, Baiclutha.
