FRIDAY'S SHOW

MANAGEMENT. The management of the show was cxcellem. The various officials attended weil to tluur duties, and all the arrangements worked without the slightest hitch or delay. The President., Mr -John Barclay, kept a watchful eye on everything, and was ably assisted by the ground stewardsMessrs W. ' McGil livrny and George Patrick. As secretary, Mr Thomas McDonald, once more proved the right man for the position. He was the pivot of the day's work, and saw to the smooth workng of the show, while his courtesy and attention to calls from all and sundry were unfailing. The Balclutha Brass Band, under Mr Wood, was in attendance, and added greatly to the enjoyment of the afternoon. Mr Kirby had charge of the luncheon booth, and supplied a good spread to the stewards and others. Mrs Harvio and Mrs Dunn and another had refreshment booths, and their joint efforts met the requirements of the gathering. Ihe press had a tent provided lor them, and it only remains now to thank the various officials and the secretary for the ready way in which all required information was supplied. GUESSING COMPETITIONS.

The following are the results of the two weight guessing competitions at flic Clutha Show on Friday :—For the nearest guess of the dressed weight of a fat bullock the Society offered a pri::e of a £l4 10/ Singor '-'ewing machine as first prize, and a cnslh peize of 30/ as second prize. There were AM4 11/ worth of guesses at )/- each. The bullock was bought for £ll 15/ by Mr George Anderson, and weighed on Monday. The coneet weight was found to be l,o4(ilbs. There, was only one correct guess viz. Peter Murray, 'Barnego, 1046 lbs and he wing !he sewing machine. There were five within lib viz. Mrs 1). 'Murray (Waj-epa) 104711)8, Jas. llooney, (Pukeawa) 1047 lbs, John Hogg 1045 lbs, George Anderson, jun., (Stirling) 1045 lbs, and A. Campbell (Milton) .1045 lbs. They divide second prize. A first prize of £1 and a second prize of 10i/ was offered for the nearest estimate of weight of sheep dressed. There were 71 guesses at 1/. The correct weight was io3lf lbs. Jas. Wybber (Owaka) and D. IFurquh arson (Warepa) each 93|lbs, W, Bradfield (Owaka), R. Shenn." n (Berwick) and' 1>: Murray (Clydevale) each guessed 93 lbs. The two correct woights divide first and second prizes.
