OBITUARY.

JOHN JOHNSTON, KAUJIKU. We regi<et to have to announce tho death, at his residence, Kaihiku, ort Wednesday, of Mr John Johnston, one of the earliest settlers of the Clutha district. Mr Johnston, who had attained the_ ripe age of 87 years, has been in failing health for some time, and his decease was therefore not unexpected. Mr Johnston came to the Colony in the Royal Albert in 1853, and was one of the best-known and most-respected men in Die Cluthiii district, a noted sheep-breeder, and a keen man in local politics, being a member of the Clutha County Council for many years, till he retired owing to failing health. The funeral takes place to-morrow.
