i/ABLWELL BUO. 110BL. Bast Grand HiiJiaui iiopu waa entertained at a farewell supper m the. Ucidlciiows' Hull on Jb'nuuy night. 'As is generally known, Air Hope, who with Bro. Win. iiailnek, is tne only surviving member ol the Lodge who took pari iu its establishment in lbti-1, has decided to take up his residence at Waihi, Auckland, h'or many years, Bro. Win. Hope lias represented (■ho Otago District as Lecture Master lor the Lodges at Balciutha, i'ort iUoiyneux, lutitangata, and Miiion. 1 here was a large gathering on Friday night, about 50 members ol the order being present. Beputy l'rov. G. M. C. J. Wood represented the District and representatives were present from all the louges already named, is. G. Bro. J. Guest, of the Ballon Lodge presided. Air if. lurby, of the Golieo Balace, provided a very nice spread. The toast of the King and the Manchester Unity was duly honoured. I'er. Sec, Brown lie ol the Milton Lodge proposed the toast of the Utago District, to which D.B.G.M. Wood responded. The toast of " Our Guest " was proposed by B.G. Bobt. Moli'at and warmly received. The proposer made reference to Bro. Hope's valuable services to the Lodge, extending over a long period ol" years, and to the universal esteem in which he was held bv members oi the Order. Bro. Hope replied. B.G. B. T. Fleming next proposed the (oast of the \ isiting Ollioors, to which Bros. Espie (Kaitangalaj, Wylie (I'ort Molyneux) and 'iuyior (Milton) responded. I'.G. T. A. Johnston then, on behalf of the membors of the Order, presented Bro. Hope with a parting gift in the shape oi a wellfilled purse oi sovereigns, appropriately voicing the feelings oi those present and the general esteem of all who knew hi"i. Bro. Brownlie presented Bro. Hope with a photograph of the past and present oliicers of the Milton Lodge, and D.B.G.M. Wood acknowledged his services on behalf of the district, and read n telegram of good wishes from the Oliicers. Bro II ope mado feeling acknowledgment, thanking them for all their kindness, and saying he felt he did not. deserve it. Be read an ollicial letter of thanks from the District, which he greatly appreciated. During the evening songs or recitations wcro contributed by Brqs. Lavcry, Denham, Blackburn, Brownlie, Harraway and Thomas. Mr A. ( iS. Browne presided at the Piano.
