WEDDING BELLS.
JOLLY—DUNNE,
Iherc was quite a stir in Balclutha on Wednesday, the occasion being the wedding of Miss Gabrielle Hezlam, the youngest daughter of Mr John Dunne, Mayor of Balclutha, to Ernest, second son of Mr D. A. Jolly, merchant, of Cromwell. The interesting ceremony took flan; in St. Virgilius' Church, the -Rev. Father o'Donnell, Gore, officiating in the unavoidable absence of the Very Rev, 1' at her O'Nei!. The wedding party were driven to the church in six or eight carriages. • The church itself was crowded to the door with interested spectators. The bride, who looked very -pretty, was given away by her father, and was charmingly attired iu white duches.se satin, trimmed with accordeon-pleated chiffon and cream silk lace she also wore the orthodox veil end orange blossoms, and carried a shower bouquet, as well as a handsome gold brooch, the gift of the bridegroom. The bride was attended by four bridesmaids Miss Frances Dunne (sister). Miss Mabel and Alma Jolly (sisters of the groom), and Miss Annie Swan (Dunedin), who wore white silk dresses trimmed with Limerick lace, ar.d large black velvet picture hats, with ostrich feathers and steel buckles. The bridesmaids carried •hower bouquets of white chrysanthemums and autumn lilies, and each wore a handsome gold brooch, the gift of the bridegroom. Mrs Dunne, mother of the bride, wore a black voile dress trimmed witli cream silk ; lace and chili'on lichu ; black bonnet, [trimmed with heliotrope velvet, white [ "ilk lace, end pansies ; Mrs Jolly, mother of the bridegroom, wore train- | l '<j Wack broche satin, trimmed with white silk lace, and large black hat trimmed with ostrich feather and Mandariu velvet. The bridegroom was | attended by Mr L. Pavleitch in the capacity of best man, who was assisted by Mr St. Julius Dunne (brother of (he bride), and Mr Edwin Jolly (brother of the groom). The sacred edifice had been tastefully decorated for the occasion by the girl friends of the bride. The organist (Mr J. P. Walls,) fJaycd Mindekohn's Wedding March as the bridal party left the church, i Only immediate relatives and. some of the_ old fiiclids of both families were invited to the ceremony, among which were—Mrs Meade' Dalgleish (aunt of bridegroom), who wore trained black 1 rocadcd satin, and grey velvet toque with ostrich feathers ; Mrs Moloney (sister of the bride) wore a blue tweed dress,'trimmed with white cloth, and a black velvet picture hat : Miss K. Moloney, black voile skirt, pale blue silk blouse, and black picture hat ; Miss M._ Solomon, white silk dress' wiJi white insertion, and black picture hat ; Mrs Butler, grey tweed, white chili'on lichu/ black toque trimmed with white silk lace ; Mrs Wm. Hay (Hilly Park), black silk dress ; and there were also several others. After the ceremony the party drove to the residence of the bride's parents to partake of the wedding breakfast, which was held in the large dininfioom. The chief toast, that of "The Health and Happ'ness of the Bride.! tnd Bridegroom," was proposed bv Rev. Father O'Donnell in a felicitous speech, and responded to bv the bridegroom ; Mr T. Mackenzie, M.BR., proposed "The Health of the Parents," which was responded to by Messrs J. Dm.lie and D. A. Jolly: other toasts were proposed by Messrs Jolm Findlav (CJrydale), Edwin Jolly, L. Pavleitch, and St. Julius Dunne,
The happy pair left by tlio aftornoon's express! for Duuedin, amid congratrlations and showers of rise, en route for Hanmer Springs, where the honeymoon is to );o spent. The bride's travelling' costume was of dark : blue tweed, black picture hat, and handsome set of furs,
A very enjoyable dance was given to '.he young' people in honour of the occasion in the Oddfellows' Hall in the evening, at which a largo number were •Jresent. The music was supplied by Mr A. S. Browne (piano), R. McN'eil (cornet), and H. Hogg (violin).
