Competition at the commencement of the sale was slow at about last week's rates, but there was a decided improvement later on, and prices rose fully 10s a head. Best bullocks LlO to Lll 2s Gd, medium to L 9 15*, light to L 8 ss, best cows and heifers to L 8 ss, medium to L 6 15s, light L 5 to L 6 2i Gd.—Dhlgety and Co. sold for Mr E. Hawker (Stirling) 6 bullocks at L 8 to L 9 7sGil. , Store Cattle. A fair yarding, and prices | on a par with late rates. Dairy Cows.—About 35 forward. Prices up to L 7 for good cows. Fat Calves.—2s ysrded, and sold at prices ranging from 5s to 465, according to age and quality. Fat Sheep.—l63s penned. Competition was keen at the commencement of the sale, prices falling later to about the level of last week's. Best wethers 18s Gd lo 21s Gd, medium to 17s Od, best ewes to 20s 3d, medium 14s to 17?. Fat Lambs.—B62 penned. Oats.—Demand for bright feed is brisk, but stocks of these are almost nilOther descriptions are quite neglected. Barley—Has liitle inquiry ; have sold several lines Lakes 3s to 3s 4d, other districts 3s to 3s 6d, feed 2s 3d to 2s Gd. Chaff—Offering freely. Prime quality L2 5s to L2 12s 6d, medium LI 10s to LI 15s, straw chaff LI 15s. Pressed straw 30s, pressed hay L 3, inferior 25s to 30s. Potatoes.—Mirket slightly weaker. New Kidneys £2 12s Gd to £2 15s. Ryegrass—There is a brisk inquiry. We quote: Farmers' dressed Is Gd to 2s, nnchine diessed 3s per bushel. Cocksfoot —Farmers' undressed 4d per lb, machined 5d to Gd. Wool.—Our next wool sale takes plaoe on March 3rd, and we expect a big rise in the market. We would ask farmers (when sending samples) always to put a price on them, as buyers do not feel inclined to make offers. Grass-seed cleaning.—Our machinery is up-to-date. We have just added a clover polisher and as we have a machine of the ktest type for eooh kind of seed, 'we give from 5 to 10 per cent better cleaning" results than a machine whioh cleans all seeds, wa also store seed free of obarge until oleaned, nd keep same insured. Fruit and Produce Beport. Butter—Prime salt 7d to Bd. Fresh butter, off flavour 6d to 7Jd. We have an export order on hand for milled and dairy butter, prices on application.
