The jouth William Rogers, whose spine was injured during a wrestling bout on the Wangaloa Beach on Christmas Day, and who has been lingering ever since in the Dunedin Hospital, died in that institution on Saturday night. From information gathered it perms (hat the deceased had gone to the beach with some friends, and while they were amusing themselves in various ways he commenced a friendly wrestling match with a friend named George Bowmar. Rogers tripped and fell, getting his head twisted towards his chest, and bringing Bowmar down on top of him. His life was despaired of from the moment of his arrival at the Hospital. The deceased stated that the injury was purely accidental, he having tripped himself. Rogers was 18 years of age, and Bowmar is about the same. Before his death Bogers made a statement on oath to the effict that he was a miner. H 3 and bi3 mate Bowmar agreed to wrestle, and caught hold of each other. Rogers says he tripped and fell on his head, and Bowmar came on top of him. He was knocked speechless, and lay still for a couple of minutes. Bowmar got hold of him, and dragged him to the tent where they were living. Rogers's statement concludes that he attaches no blame to anyone, and that he was friendly with Bowmar.
