FOOTBALL.
A friendly match between the Waiwera and Kaitangata teams was played on the lleserve, Baiclutha, on Saturday. Neither team was fully represented, and they called into requisition the services of several of the Baiclutha players, and after a close game honors rested even, neither side managing to score. Mr Deaker officiated as referee. The Excelsior and Albion first fifteens (Gore) iret on Wednesday for the second time this season, when the latter won by nine points to six. The game was closely contested throughout, but the Albion deserved their win, as in the second spell they had much the best of the contest, and their forwards played a real good game. The Albion kicked off, and fumbling on the pirt of the Excelsior backs enabled Fraser to geore. From this to the end of the spell the Fixcelsior had the best of the gams, and Wbytock cros«ed the Albion line twice. In the second spell the game was kept entirely iimongst the forwards, of which Albion had much the stronger division. Smuill and Mac Gibbon scored a try each. The game was played in a friendly spirit throughout, and Mr F. Wallis made an impartial referee. —Contributed.
